Yoga Therapy
What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga therapy is a personalized, therapeutic approach that adapts the ancient tools of yoga to support your unique needs and goals. Originating in India thousands of years ago, yoga offers profound practices for healing and wholeness that have been passed down through generations. When we integrate yoga therapy into our sessions, we draw on breath work, gentle movement, meditation, and awareness practices to address physical discomfort, emotional patterns, stress, and the effects of trauma stored in your body.
Unlike group yoga classes, yoga therapy is tailored specifically to you. We work together to explore which practices feel supportive and accessible for your body right now, honoring your limitations and building on your strengths. The focus isn’t on achieving poses or meeting external standards, but on cultivating a felt sense of safety, regulation, and wholeness in your body.
Sessions are gentle and adaptive. Your practitioner will guide you through practices that meet you where you are, whether seated, standing, or lying down, and will adjust based on what you’re experienced in the moment. This approach recognizes that healing happens when we work with the body compassionately, respecting both yoga’s rich South Asian lineage and your body’s wisdom and need for both challenge and rest.
No previous yoga experience is needed, just an openness to exploring what supports your well-being.
