Somatic Practices

What are Somatic Practices?

Somatic practices help you reconnect with your body’s intelligence and capacity for change by working directly with the nervous system and physical sensations. When we weave a somatic approach into our sessions, you’ll explore how emotions, stress, trauma, and even societal conditioning show up as patterns in your body: chronic tension, restricted breathing, habitual postures, or areas of numbness and disconnection.

Through gentle movement, breath awareness, and attentive presence, you’ll learn to sense these patterns more clearly and discover new possibilities for how your body can organize itself. This isn’t about achieving a “correct” posture or forcing change, but about cultivating awareness and choice in how you inhabit your body.

Sessions are collaborative and responsive to what you’re experiencing. Your practitioner guides you through simple, exploratory movements and invitations to notice sensations, helping you develop greater ease, freedom, and agency in your body. This work recognizes that our bodies hold not only personal history but also the impact of systemic oppression and cultural conditioning, making somatic awareness both a personal and political practice.

No previous experience is needed, just curiosity about what your body has to show you.
